Setting the school week and closures

Choose the days you teach and your hours, and add holidays, so a register is only expected when the madressah is open.

Updated 5 October 2026

  1. Go to School settings. It has three parts: Your madressah, The school day, and Holidays and closures.

  2. Under Teaching days, choose Weekdays, Weekends or Every day, or press single days to make your own pattern. At least one day is needed.

  3. Under Opens and Closes, set the hours a teaching day runs. Check the Time zone is the madressah’s own. Press Save changes.

Staff timesheets start from these hours when someone adds a day, so getting them right saves everyone typing.

  4. Under Holidays and closures, press Add a closure. Choose Whole madressah or One class, the First day closed and Last day closed, and a Reason such as Half term. Press Add closure.

They’re listed as On now, Coming up and Recent. Press one to change its dates or reason, then Save closure, or to Delete closure: a register is expected again on those days once you confirm.

Whether it’s for the whole madressah or one class can’t change once it’s added. Delete it and add another instead.

Administrators can add a closure that reaches into the past, for example a day the madressah closed at short notice. Teachers can only close their own classes from today onwards.

Open a closure and press Tell everyone about this closure. It writes a notice for you, as a draft; check it, then publish it. See Publishing a notice.

It’s shown at the top but can’t be changed here, because it’s also the name people search for when they sign in. To change it, email info@madrasaty.co.uk and we’ll change it everywhere at once.
